My Salvation Testimony

A good friend of mine, Jeff Johnson challenged me to write out my salvation testimony in “elevator pitch” form. Why write it? And why in “elevator pitch” form? Because writing it in short form forces you to think through it and include only the necessary details so you don’t lose the attention of your audience. I challenge any Christian who has not already, to take 30 minutes and do this. You’ll be more prepared to share your testimony with others if you do. Here’s my salvation testimony in “elevator pitch” form: Chains are gone! I grew up in a Christian home with 2 Godly parents. At age 4, I prayed and asked Jesus into my heart then got baptized, though I didn’t understand what I was doing. I struggled with the “authenticity” of my salvation all through my childhood until March 14, 1997 – at age 12 – my dad was teaching the Bible lesson at King’s Kids. In his lesson he stressed that there is only 1 road to Heaven and every other road leads to Hell. After the lesson, I ran to my dad in tears telling him I wasn’t sure I’d go to Heaven when I died. He took me to a quiet room and went through the Roman’s Road with me to make sure I knew I was lost and then I prayed a real sinner’s prayer that day and got saved. I was baptized a few weeks later. Over the months and years that followed, certain struggles came into my life that I new was Satan attacking me as a sinner saved by Grace. In some instances I felt he might win the battle, but God is faithful. I graduated from Christian high school and Christian college and married the most beautiful young woman and my best friend. A few months after our son was born my dad passed away and my world turned upside down. But through God’s Word and the encouragement of fellow Christian men who had experienced the same trial my God, once again, proved Himself faithful.

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20
